Tutor: Robert Nelmes
This workshop will explore portrait painting using pastel, often considered to be less fashionable than oil and watercolour, but with a long tradition and rightly seen as a first choice for artists over hundreds of years.
Working from photographs, discover how to blend, layer and above all paint with pastel. There’ll be some anatomy thrown in for good measure.
You’ll use hard, soft and pencil pastels to capture likeness, create focus and texture, through observation and the understanding of value, colour, and drawing.
Date: Saturday 4th July – 10am to 3pm
Cost: £60 (includes all materials)
